First Win for 'salt of the earth'

Monday, 12 November 2012 14:31

Jack McCullough winner U13s Leinster Cross Country Championships

'salt of the earth' would like to congratulate Jack McCullough (12) from Clogherhead Co. Louth, who came first in the under 13s Leinster Cross Country Championships race on Sunday 11th of November. Jack had suffered from persistent chest infections from a young age and won a gold medal in the 2500m race in which 118 contestants took part in.

After getting his tonsils removed at the age of eight he was less prone to infections, but when respiratory problems occurred they were severe and sometimes resulted in up to 3 weeks of absence from school.Jack had been suffering from a chest infection some days before the race. His Dad, Padraig McCullough took him to 'salt of the earth', our new salt therapy clinic in Drogheda Co. Louth as he had heard it was good for those with respiratory problems.

After just two sessions he felt an improvement in his breathing. Before the session he was coughing continuosly and short of breath, but afterwards the tightness in his chest had been relieved.

Jack will be attending more appointments for salt therapy treatment.

World COPD Day

Wednesday, 31 October 2012 16:43

Did you know that this November 14th is WORLD COPD DAY! Organised by the Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD), World COPD Day aims to raise awareness about chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and improve COPD care throughout the world.

This years theme is ''It's Not Too Late.'' Many people don't realise they have COPD and go undiagnosed as they believe their symptoms are due to lack of fitness or getting older.

Here at 'salt of the earth' we are offering those with COPD the chance to visit our salt rooms on November 14th and get a free session. So spread the word and we hope to see you there.

According to World Health Organisation (WHO) nearly 3 million people die from COPD every year. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD) is a life-threatening lung disease that interferes with normal breathing – it is more than a "smoker's cough".

Salt therapy has enjoyed some unbelievable success in treating COPD patients. It has allowed COPD sufferers to 'enjoy life again', without the hindrance of being constantly out of breath and living in fear of picking up a cold or a chest infection. The beauty of salt therapy is, unlike many other COPD treatments, it is completely drug-free; the tiny salt particles in the air, which can reach the deepest part of the lung, clean respiratory system allowing patients to breathe more easily.

'salt of the earth' will open its doors this Saturday the 10th of November and the official launch will take place on World COPD Day.

On the 14th of November the public are invited to come, view the facilities, talk to the staff, and get information on the treatments and packages available. They can also book their first session for FREE!

About 'salt of the earth'

Friday, 19 October 2012 09:37

The 'salt of the earth' clinic consists of two salt rooms totally covered with salt on all the walls and floors. One room is catered for children, with a large TV and play area. The adult's room has comfortable chairs for you to relax on and breathe easily!

Are you confused about what we do here at 'salt of the earth'? Salt Therapy also known as Halotherapy or Speleotherapy can have many benefits for those experiencing breathing difficulties including serious illnesses like Asthma and COPD. We have machines in place and designed the rooms so that it recreates the environment that naturally occurs within a salt cave.

The only difference is that the machines allow you to breathe the salt particles deeper into your lungs. There have been studies that show this treatment can help alleviate symptoms experienced by people with respiratory illnesses. The treatment is safe to use, drug free and is popular in central and eastern European countries.

Kenneth Dursley, owner of 'salt of the earth' has been working hard to set up the salt clinic and is doing his final training sessions this weekend.

If you would like to try salt therapy all you have to do is make an appointment. The first session is FREE. It's that simple!
